Adhoc Manual

The Adhoc manual. One page per surface: what it is, where to find it, how to use it, what it is good for, and what will trip you up. It is written for people using the product, and it is public, so you can read it before you have an account.

Adhoc is an operating system for your workspace: a place where the things you use are not locked inside separate apps. Your notes, lists, calendars, pages, dashboards, automations and custom tools all live in one workspace graph, so they can be connected and rearranged instead of copied from app to app. In Adhoc, apps are data. An app is a saved JSON-shaped arrangement of data, presentation and logic: what it stores, how it appears, and what can happen when you use it. That means an app can be reshaped without a code deployment. You can edit it by hand in Studios, ask Poly to build or change it with you, or combine parts of several apps into something that fits your work. Spaces let you keep different parts of life or work separate while still using the same system underneath. When something is useful beyond one Space, you can share it with specific people or publish it to the Collective through the Index so others can discover, install and adapt it.

Every page follows the same shape, so you can skim to the part you want. If you only read one section, read Gotchas — that is where the things that will actually surprise you live.

Every claim here was checked against the product before it was written. Where a surface is planned but not built, the page says so plainly instead of describing an intention as if it already worked. A manual that documents good intentions is worse than no manual.
